Digital Approaches in Dementia Prevention: Evaluative Monitoring of an App-based Exercise Study

Digital Approaches in Dementia Prevention: Evaluative Monitoring of an App-based Exercise Study

Context

Over 55 million people worldwide suffer from dementia. This number is expected to rise to 139 million by 2050. This represents a huge challenge for our healthcare system, as there is still no cure for dementia.

Our research system, consisting of a web platform and a smartphone app, enables physicians to take a holistic view of patients' health status and take personalized measures for patients to face the challenges of dementia.

As part of the ongoing Allianz study, our research system is being tested with real patients regarding exercise coaching for dementia patients. The task of this thesis is the co-supervision of the study and the scientific evaluation of the results.

Tasks

  • You will familiarize yourself with the existing system and the ongoing study.
  • You will support the Allianz study by solving any problems that arise and analyzing the data collected in the study.
  • You will evaluate the results of the study.

Requirements

  • You are studying electrical engineering, medical technology, computer science, mechatronics or a related course.
  • You are committed, motivated and have a careful and conscientious way of working.
  • You are interested in medical technology and would like to work with real health data.
  • You have already worked with tools for the evaluation and visualization of data (e.g. Jupyter Notebook / Python).
