Integration of Smart Devices in a Digital Dementia Intervention and Prevention Platform

Context

Over 55 million people worldwide suffer from dementia. This number is expected to rise to 139 million by 2050. This represents a huge challenge for our healthcare system, as there is still no cure for dementia.

Our research system, consisting of a web platform and a smartphone app, enables physicians to take a holistic view of patients' health status and take personalized measures for patients to face the challenges of dementia.

Smart devices such as smartwatches or smart blood pressure monitors are to be implemented as part of this system. The processing of measurement data and the subsequent visualization are an essential part of this work.

Tasks

• You familiarize yourself with the existing system.
• You will develop a technical concept for the integration of smart devices and implement it as a prototype.
• You evaluate the practical suitability of your implementation, for example in one of our ongoing studies.

Requirements

• You are studying electrical engineering, medical technology, computer science, mechatronics or a related course.
• You are committed, motivated and have a careful and conscientious way of working.
• You have a keen interest in the development of web platforms and smartphone apps.
• Ideally, you already have some experience in these areas.
