Test & validation of perceptual functions - analysis and comparative study of different simulation environments
Context
TWT GmbH has developed the Tronis® software for the simulation and validation of driver assistance systems.
The aim of the project is to investigate how the perception functions of driver assistance systems can be effectively tested and validated virtually. This includes the acquisition and interpretation of environmental information by sensors such as cameras, lidar and radar. An analysis and comparative study between the Tronis® solution from TWT and open source alternatives such as Carla is to be carried out. This includes the evaluation of functionalities, performance and flexibility of the respective platforms. The aim is to investigate how external test models can be effectively connected to the simulation environment in order to verify the safety of automated vehicles. This could include the integration of software-in-the-loop (SiL) or hardware-in-the-loop (HiL) setups.
Goals
The aim of the work is to develop and evaluate innovative approaches for the simulation and validation of driver assistance systems. By analysing various test procedures and using modern 3D engines such as Unreal Engine 4 and 5, the aim is to contribute to the further development of safety standards in the automotive industry.
Requirements
- Studies in engineering, computer science, information technology or a comparable field
