Integration of hardware accelerators within the SDR development process

Due to the performance of modern processors, parts of the signal processing in high-frequency transmitters and receivers can be implemented in software. This approach is commonly referred to as Software Defined Radio (SNR). In order to execute complex algorithms, additional hardware accelerators are required, which are implemented using FPGAs. To integrate hardware acceleration into the Software Defined Radio signal processing chain, a concept for the overall architecture is required.

Data processing in future industrial production systems

As new production system concepts emerge to face an increasing demand for individualized production, sensor integration for Industry 4.0 functions becomes a major challenge. Individualized and highly flexible production increases the number of tools and sensors required per robot. However, since the number of communication connections between the robot and the tool is statically specified by an electromechanical coupling element, a new type of concept using dynamic partial reconfiguration is required for connecting the sensors to the control unit.
