Contents

We know from many publications in recent years that Germany has fallen far behind its competitors on the world market in the patent sector. This deficiency has already led to considerable disadvantages for German companies on the world market. Although the situation has improved recently, patent expertise is still rare among engineering graduates and is still in high demand.

We want to teach engineering students, as future inventors, basic procedures for inventing and elementary knowledge of the patent system during their studies.

The aim of the course is to make an invention and write a patent specification for this invention. Anyone who wants to can also submit the invention to the German Patent Office.

The first few hours will provide a simple introduction to the patent system. Afterwards, smaller working groups will try to invent something and write down and submit this invention in the form of a patent specification.
