Support with statistical data analysis and KPI evaluation in the InnovationCampus Mobility of the Future

Context

In the Innovation Campus Mobility of the Future (ICM), the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) and the University of Stuttgart are pooling their expertise in research and innovation in order to think ahead new forms of mobility and flexible production technologies.

The data from over 170 ICM research projects (publications, theses, follow-up projects, etc.) is processed at regular intervals by the research coordination team to determine meaningful key performance indicators (KPIs) and evaluate their development over time. The Python-based tool REport MAnager for the INnovationCampus Mobility of the Future (REMAIN) was developed for this purpose. This tool is to be further developed in line with the new requirements of KPI analysis. At the same time, a database is to be defined to enable more consistent versioning over time.

Tasks

• Familiarization with the processes of KPI recording/analysis in ICM
• Familiarization with the existing Python application REMAIN
• Conception of a database for the versioned documentation/storage of project data and the associated processes
• Migration of existing data to the new database structure
• Implementation of new KPI analysis features based on the Python libraries pandas and matplotlib
• Implementation and execution of tests for quality assurance of the software

Requirements

• Studies in the field of natural sciences, engineering or economics
• Good knowledge of the Python programming language, preferably with initial experience with the pandas, openpyxl and matplotlib libraries
• Knowledge of statistics/data analytics and database basics
• Confident handling of Microsoft Excel software
• You work in a structured, reliable and goal-oriented manner and have excellent time management as well as a high degree of planning and organizational skills.
• You have a very good command of written and spoken German and English.
