EPI SGA 2
Project goals
In the second phase of the European Processor Initiative the overall goal is to continue the work of phase 1 and to tape out the first European high performance processor. Hereby, EPI focuses on processor technologies based on ARM ISA and architecture for covering the short-term needs and HPC accelerator technologies based on RISC-V, the open-source ISA. In addition to these processors, embedded FPGA and accelerators will be developed, integrated, taped out and tested in the three year phase of the project. EPI2 also seeks to expand the scope of the project into adjacent European and global vertical markets that can leverage HPC to enable new and improved systems and solutions.
ITIV participation
ITIV is collaborating with Menta and CEA on the definition and exploration of the embedded FPGA, which will add flexibility to the overall system design by allowing users to add missing functionality in flexible and reconfigurable fashion. The main goal here is to determine the initial dimensions of the eFPGA for tape out. Therefore, ITIV will use novel highly optimized neural network accelerators and image segmentation use cases.
