Celebration of the 10th anniversary of Bereich 3

On December 9, 2024, Bereich 3 of KIT celebrated its 10th anniversary. Members of the Executive Board, the divisional council, professors, staff from the Dean's Office and the student council gathered for this special occasion.

The evening offered a varied program: after the welcoming address by Prof. Joachim Knebel, Head of Division, and a greeting from KIT President Prof. Jan Hesthaven, there were entertaining presentations on the past and future of Bereich 3.

The former Dean of the KIT Faculty of Mechanical Engineering (MACH), Prof. Kai Furmans, talked retrospectively about the process of founding Bereich 3, while the Dean of the KIT Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology (ETIT), Prof. Eric Sax, pointed out future-oriented perspectives. Martina Huber, Dr. Heiko Maaß and Dr. Birgit Langer spoke about participation and equal opportunities.

The concluding panel discussion with President Jan Hesthaven and representatives of Bereich 3 focused on the successes of Bereich 3 to date, the challenges of the coming years and the importance of interdisciplinary cooperation between the MACH and ETIT faculties. In particular, increased integration and cooperation between the Helmholtz Association and the university's mission was seen as a great opportunity for the future.

After the official program items, a joint exchange over snacks in the foyer invited guests to end the evening in a relaxed atmosphere. The 10th anniversary celebration impressively demonstrated how much Bereich 3 has achieved in recent years and underlined the successful linking of the KIT faculties MACH and ETIT.
