This year, the Ernst-Schoemperlen-Foundation once again awarded prizes for outstanding dissertations as part of the 14th Carl Benz Memorial Lecture on 28.11.2024 in the Tulla lecture hall, including Dr. Felix Reisgys and Dr. Johannes Bernhard, both former doctoral students of Prof. Eric Sax, and M. Sc. Moritz Wäschle.

The series of events honors the inventor of the automobile and offers an insight into the technological developments of the 21st century and their impact on engineering education. It is held under the patronage of Mercedes-Benz AG.

For the first time, there was also the "Ernst-Schoemperlen-Pioneer-Prize" in the "Sustainable Mobility" category, which is awarded jointly with the KIT Center for Mobility Systems.
The pioneer prize was awarded to the OTrace project team as a committed group of people in an outstanding KIT project that supports sustainability in a special way. M. Sc. Daniel Baumann and M. Sc. Martin Sommer from the Institute of Information Processing Technology (ITIV) accepted the award.

The ITIV plays a central role in the OTrace project. It is responsible for analyzing vehicle functions with regard to the potential for relocation to the cloud, developing a software architecture for the networking of vehicles and the prototypical evaluation of the cloud function. It aims to increase the range of electric vehicles through the use of cloud data and innovative technologies in order to contribute to sustainable mobility.

The €5,000 prize is of course also an award for the quality of research in Prof. Eric Sax's team. Our congratulations!
