This year's retreat for Prof. Eric Sax's doctoral students took place in the picturesque Monbach Valley. Over the course of a week, more than 40 doctoral students gathered, all of whom are doing their doctorates at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). The participants come from various fields: Some work directly at the Institute for Information Processing Technology (ITIV), others work at the Research Center for Information Technology (FZI) - and still others are employed in industry. This diversity of backgrounds enriches the exchange and promotes interdisciplinary approaches.

During the retreat, the focus was on lectures and discussion rounds. Here, the doctoral students presented their current research projects, shared their findings and received valuable feedback from their colleagues and Prof. Sax. These gatherings not only provide valuable information, but also inspire by creating new perspectives and encouraging innovative ideas.

The scientific activities were interspersed with leisure activities that provided variety and fun. Particularly popular were curling and an entertaining pub quiz, where the doctoral students were able to put their knowledge and teamwork skills to the test.

The retreat thus not only provided a platform for scientific exchange, but also for social interaction and team building, which promotes cooperation and further strengthens cohesion among the doctoral students.
