In the midst of the summer university hustle and bustle in Karlsruhe, 20 students from the "Practical Software Engineering (PSE)" course went on an exciting excursion. Their destination: the headquarters of the company IPG, which presented itself as a cooperation partner of ITIV.

During the 2024 summer semester, David Kraus and Luca Seidel from ITIV worked with the students to bring an ambitious software project to life - a highway pilot.
The core objective of the internship: to design and implement a comprehensive software project from initial requirements and finally validate it using the IPG simulation tool CarMaker.

Dr. Pascal Piecha from IPG guided the group through the hardware-in-the-loop (HiL) systems that can be used in combination with CarMaker. Here, the bridge to industry became tangible, as CarMaker is a central tool in the PSE context.

The highlight of the day? A competition in which the two best student teams were able to put a HiL system through its paces.

Afterwards, IPG hosted a relaxed get-together with snacks and cool drinks - a successful conclusion to an event that not only conveyed knowledge, but also joy and community.

Perhaps this day was also the start of an unforgettable summer in Karlsruhe for some, as the annual open-air festival "Das Fest" awaited visitors just around the corner.
