Oliver Wolf has successfully defended his dissertation entitled "Multigranular optimization for heterogeneous multicore systems" as an external doctoral student of Prof. Becker.

With the increasing complexity of embedded systems and thus their programming, it is becoming more and more difficult to achieve the best possible performance on these systems.

Oliver Wolf has developed a methodology with which optimized C code for embedded multicore systems can be generated with the help of cross-level parallelization.

The aim was to decouple algorithm development from optimization for the actual target system. The four levels of abstraction consider the algorithm, code, task and data levels and use increasingly detailed information from the hardware specification to perform specific optimizations. An iterative approach was chosen that allows later levels to refine decisions and settings from previous levels.

We at ITIV are extremely pleased that another doctorate has been successfully completed and we wish Oliver Wolf all the best for the future, both personally and professionally.
