Low Latency Trigger

Moderne Teilchenbeschleunigerexperimente produzieren heutzutage immense Datenmengen die nicht gespeichert werden können. Deshalb werden die Daten durch Trigger Systeme in Echtzeit analysiert und nur die wirklich relevanten Daten gespeichert. Diese Analyse wird durch mehrstufige Trigger durchgeführt. Am ITIV werden, in enger Zusammenarbeit mit Experimental Physikern, neue Hardware Architekturen auf FPGA Basis für die Level 1 Trigger Stufe entwickelt. Dazu werden klassische Algorithmen, sowie auf Maschine Learning basierende Systeme implementiert und analysiert.

High throughput Data Acquisition

In Physik Großexperimenten fallen immense Datenmengen die übertragen werden müssen. Deshalb ist ein leistungsfähiges DAQ System extrem wichtige für einen erfolgreichen Verlauf des Experiments. Das ITIV entwickelt mit dem Campus Nord solche Systeme. Wir untersuchen dabei zukünftige FPGA Architekturen für die effiziente Verarbeitung und Weiterleitung der Experimentdaten.

Fast AI in High Energy Physics

Künstliche Intelligenz wird in der Hoch Energiephysik immer wichtiger. Die Maschinen Learning Algorithmen werden zurzeit meist in den Physik Rechenzentren eingesetzt. Dazu werden hauptsächlich GPU oder TPU basierte Server eingesetzt. Wir versuchen diese Algorithmen in FPGA Hardware zu implementieren um sie schneller ausfuhren zu können.
